About Jeff

Born in Cleveland, Ohio and grew up in Lake Erie. Son of a son of a boater, Jeff spends most of his spare time on the waters of Lake Murray, SC, Lake Erie, OH and Wrightsville Beach, NC.  Wife Karen works at LexiCode Corporation. Son Kellen is a student, presently studying at UNC. Dog Bosco, also an avid boater, is on permanent vacation.

Like many Clevelanders, Jeff is an avid guitarist and songwriter, which led him to a recording studio in 1980. He quickly discovered his first love while helping to engineer the bands first album. He received an Engineering Certificate from Innovations recording studio in Strongsville, Ohio. He went on to earn Bachelor of Arts degree from Cleveland State University School of Film and Broadcasting in 1989 while directing a regional television show called Positively Speaking with Host Betsy Salzberg.

Wanting to continue his education, Jeff moved to Columbia, SC where he earned a Masters of Arts degree in filmmaking in 1991 with a cognate in sound. His thesis project, a music video entitled A Squeakin' and a Creakin', which he had written, directed and composed, earned him several film festival and songwriter awards.  At the same time he began teaching "Advanced Audio for the Visual Media" at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC and "Sound on Film" at Trident Tech College in Charleston, SC.

Jeff left academia in 1992 to devote full time to free-lance film work and song composition. His first solo album was released under Arch Records of Athens, Ga. Entitled "Safe and Sound on Middle Ground", it aptly reflected his life torn between a career in feature film, and the music industry. While his music continued to garner praise and secure publishing contracts, it was his film work that continued to pay the bills. By late 1993 he co-created Fantasia Films, a film production company, and began building a sound package. By 1999, Jeff has secured nearly $160,000 in production sound equipment while establishing himself as a top sound mixer in the Southeast. In 1998 he found the time between shows to record a second album for Arch Records entitled "Ear Candy".  The album became a regional success and received airplay in the southeast. The song entitled "Mimosa Morning" began heavy rotation in the fall of 1998 and continued to be one of the most requested songs for six radio stations well into 1999.

Jeff is owner/operator of Bimini Production Sound, established in 2000, and is based in Wilmington, NC. His feature film credits continue to grow and are supplemented by a growing sound rental business.
